Q: I am having an outdoor ceremony in September and would like a harpist, but my fiance thinks the harp sound won’t be heard. Our wedding is at Hillbrook Club.

A: You’re fortunate that you booked an outdoor venue without a lot of ambient noise. Hillbrook is completely private and devoid of traffic noise, other weddings, waterfalls, etc., so you should be in good shape. However, I highly recommend having the instrument amplified, especially if it’s a bigger wedding. The sound of a harp, strings, or any other accoustic instrument is enhanced in a setting with reflective surfaces (think The Courthouse or Severance Hall), but can get lost in the great outdoors.
