We put together a list for a meeting with a bride yesterday, so I thought I’d refine it and post it. I’d been meaning to do such a post for a while anyway. I made a point to leave out some of the songs that you’ve seen on all the other lists and tried to include some more obscure choices.
Because You Loved Me – Celine Dion
Can You Feel the Love Tonight – Elton John
Daddyβs Little Girl – Michael Bolton
Do I Make You Proud – Taylor Hicks
Father and Daughter – Paul Simon
Gracie – Ben Folds
Have I Told You Lately – Rod Stewart/Van Morrison
Hero – Mariah Carey
How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You) – James Taylor
I’ll Stand By You – Pretenders/Carrie Underwood
In My Life – John Lennon
Isn’t She Lovely – Stevie Wonder
Landslide – Fleetwood Mac
Lullabye – Billy Joel
My Fatherβs Eyes – Amy Grant
My Girl – The Temptations
Sweet Child ‘O Mine – Guns N Roses or a nice Cheryl Crow version
The Rainbow Connection – Kermit the Frog
Take Good Care of My Baby – Bobby Vee, Beatles
Teach Your Children – Crosby Stills & Nash
That’s How Strong My Love Is – Otis Redding
Through the Years – Kenny Rogers
To Sir With Love – Lulu
Unforgettable – Natalie Cole & Nat King Cole
You Are so Beautiful – Joe Cocker
You Decorated My Life – Kenny Rogers
You Got It – Roy Orbison
You’ve Got a Friend – James Taylor
don’t forget about “Little Miss Magic” by Jimmy Buffett. That’s my favorite!
My new favorite is Cinderella by Steven Curtis Chapman
ive been looking for a rock type or better classic rock father/daughter dance song but i just found this song that is quite catchy and non cheesy and good. its called Daughter by Loudon Wainwright III but still trying to find a classic rock song for us since my dad loves his classic.
Thanks Kris! Loudon’s “Daughter” was actually on this list, but I deleted it because it was so…different. But this is why client comments are so great; people have such varied tastes!
Another great one that many don’t know about is ‘Your Joy’ by Chrisette Michelle. A very beautiful tune that anyone would enjoy…
Father Daughter Wedding Songs like “A Song for My Daughter” by Ray Allaire or Mikki Viereck might also be a good selection.
I would definitely include the song “Daddy Don’t Let Go” by Out of Ether. I danced with my Dad to that song at my wedding. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. LOVE this song!!
This is a great list of songs. I am excited to share some of these ideas with my brides. Hopefully we can move away from playing “I loved her first” every weekend.
Love the variety you have in the list above. I would of never thought about Sheryl Crow’s version of Sweet Child o Mine. All the best!
I am a dj from Houston and about half of the brides we talk to want to stray away from the traditional songs and make their wedding uniquely their own. Most of these brides think they are alone but the truth is the uncommon is becoming the norm. Check out the list of songs real brides have asked us to play at their wedding on our website https://djrobinfo.com/Nontraditional_Wedding_Musi.html
What about ‘Heartland – I Loved Her First’? It seems to be very popular without tipping the scales of cliche. Very good list guys!
Great list! I’ll definitely share with my upcoming brides π
Great! i’ll be sharing this too to my cousin. she’s getting married soon. π
I just wanted to thank you guys for sharing this list of songs! I’ve bookmarked this page and sent a handful of brides links to this page. Thanks again π
Listen to the song “I Loved Her Firstβ by the band Heartland. It HAS to go on this list!
