Description
Variyaporn Wiroonrat (Manow) is known for her sweet, captivating violin tone and her heartfelt performances. As a versatile violinist, she shines in Baroque, Romantic, and 20th-century repertoire on both modern electric and traditional violins, while also embracing pop and jazz styles. Her talents have been featured in recordings for the *Soontaraporn Gold Album* and Universal France Studio, and she has performed at numerous live events both in Thailand and internationally. Additionally, she has DJed and played the violin in Singapore. Recently, she enhanced her violin studies by attending a workshop and private lessons with Berklee College of Music Professor Jason Anick.
Born in Chiang Mai, Thailand, Manow began her formal music education at Mahidol University’s College of Music at age 19, studying violin under Mathias Boegner and Inga Causa. She served as Concertmaster for the university orchestra and played first violin in the Southeast Asian Youth Orchestra (SAYOWE-2007). In 2010, she joined the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra as a second violinist. In 2019, she completed her master’s degree in music at Mahidol University, with a thesis titled “Timbre in Indie Pop Band Polycat,” which utilized sound analysis software to explore the band’s unique sound under the guidance of Dr. Julia Bozone.
Manow honed her jazz improvisation skills through jazz camps and workshops, studying with Berklee professors Rob Thomas and Jason Anick. Anick, who has performed with icons like Stevie Wonder and Tommy Emmanuel, offered valuable insights into amplifying the violin’s sound.
Today, Manow regularly performs, teaches, and mentors a growing number of successful students.
